Introduction

The programme “Vivir en Murcia” was created in 2000 by Murcia’s University in response to the International students' needs to find accommodation in our city. This programme was promoted by Murcia’s International Relations Service (SRI) in order to help:

1. Students coming to Murcia as part of a mobility programme managed by the SRI of the University of Murcia.

2. Those enrolled in the University’s Spanish for Foreigners Courses. We allocate more than 500 people per academic year via this service in flats, residences, apartments and host families.

Due to the high level of applications, conditions and resources employed by this initiative need to revised.

THIS SERVICE IS FREE OF CHARGE FOR STUDENTS

Murcia's University standards for the accommodation Service "Vimur"

1.- "Vimur" 's aim

Work as a mediator between students or teachers, who are part of a mobility programme and/or similar, and landlords with the only aim of facilitating their incorporation to Murcia’s University.

2.- The International Relations Service's role in the accommodation programme "Vimur"

Our only role is that of mediator between both parties, we contact the owners as per the application requests. Once the reservation is made and we have confirmed that everything has been arranged for your arrival, the SRI will have completed its task and met the project's objective. The SRI will not be liable or held any responsibility over future relations tenant/ landlord.

If you are not satisfied with any aspects of the accommodation, you should contact the owner or administrator and discuss the matter with him/her. We would give advice if necessary but reaching an agreement is up to the parties. We can only help you search your first accommodation. Should a student wish to change lodgings during their stay at the University of Murcia, they must do so on their own.

Please note that there is a contract template that we can provide upon request.

3.- Accommodation options.

- Sharing accommodation (A). Renting of a room in a flat to share with other students where you can use the common areas and bills expenses, if any, will be divided among the tenants.- Living with a host family (B). Renting of a room in dwelling owned by a Spanish family. The aim of this option is to provide a full experience of culture and Spanish way of living. This includes half/ full board and weekly laundry, never involving any housework apart from keeping his/her room and common areas clean and tidy.- Renting accommodation (C). Renting of a dwelling by just one student, taking on full leasing and utility costs. Subsequently, and with the landlord’s consent, the tenant would be allowed to sublease the remaining rooms to other students, provided that all outcomes are registered in the contract and permitted by the landlord.- Stays of less than 3 months (D). VIMUR will try to give course to applications for less than 3 months through the above options of accommodation. Taking into the account their particularity, we will consider the accommodation options of flats, residences, hostels and hotels.Vimur will hep with practical information in the search for accommodation in the city, and will provide a list of flats and options available at the moment for you to contact the landlords directly once the decision is made. Should you require accommodation for the first few days, please apply through the temporary accommodation form stating check-in and check-out dates.
